Recently I have visited the British Museum on a few Friday evenings and recorded some snapshots for my memories. I have not visited all the rooms in the museum yet but I’ll visit it again soon and will record more. In the meantime I hope you will enjoy this little glimpse into my visit to the British Museum. Also, my recent visit was inspired by my latest read, There are Rivers in the Sky by Elif Shafak who in her book makes many references to the British Museum, the meaning of artifacts, their place in the British Museum as well as to the ancient Assyria, King Ashurbanipal and the city of Nineveh which used to be the world’s largest and richest city, situated on the eastern bank of the Tigris river, the capital of the Assyrian Empire. I am very grateful to Elif Shafak for writing Rivers in the Sky and for melancholy that all her stories evoke. Thanks to her books during the saddest days I discovered the whole world of wonder and comfort I have never knew it existed. As mentioned above my visit to the British Museum was inspired by her latest book which I wholeheartedly recommend.
